Phone Clover can record calls and keep them attached to the call log, so you can play them back, use them for coaching, or hand them to the AI notes add-on for a transcript later. Recording is controlled at the account level, not per call, so it’s worth understanding exactly what’s covered before you rely on it for a specific conversation.
Where to find it
Settings, then the Calls tab, then the Recording card.
What you can control
- Record incoming calls. A switch. When it’s on, incoming calls to your numbers are recorded.
- Outgoing calls. Not a switch you set per call. A read-only badge shows either “Recorded by an account setting” or “Not recorded,” reflecting the account-level configuration.
Note: Recording is captured through Telnyx’s call-recording API and the files land in secure storage. Playback in the dashboard uses a link that expires after 1 hour, so an old playback link you saved somewhere will stop working. Reopen the call from the dashboard to get a fresh one.
Where recordings show up
Open the dashboard on the full Phone page and expand a call row. A row with a recording shows a player. If the AI notes add-on has processed that call, the same expanded row also shows an AI summary heading and a collapsible transcript.
Who sees what
A rep sees recordings for their own calls. An admin sees recordings for the whole sub-account, so an admin can pull up a call a rep took without needing that rep to share it first.
Why the setting is account-level, not per-call
Recording is a compliance-sensitive setting in most places, so Phone Clover keeps it simple: one switch for incoming, one account-level configuration for outgoing, both visible from the same card. There is no button on an individual call to record it on the fly, and no way to record only some incoming calls and not others. If you need every outgoing call recorded, the account-level outgoing setting needs to be turned on; check with an admin if the badge on a call shows “Not recorded” and you expected otherwise.
Limits
- There is no per-call override. Recording follows the account setting for the direction of the call (incoming or outgoing), not a choice made at the start of an individual call.
- Playback links expire after 1 hour.
- Recording is a prerequisite for the AI notes add-on. A call with no recording cannot be transcribed or summarized, no matter how the add-on is configured.
Troubleshooting
A call has no recording. Check whether recording was on for that direction (incoming or outgoing) at the time the call happened. A setting turned on today does not retroactively record calls that already happened.
The playback link doesn’t work. Playback links expire after 1 hour. Go back to the dashboard and expand the call row again to get a working link.
A call shows “Not recorded” as a badge instead of a player. That’s expected for outgoing calls when the account-level outgoing recording setting is off. Turn on recording for that direction in the Recording card if you want future calls captured.
