Telnyx for GoHighLevel: calling and texting on your Telnyx account

For HighLevel agencies and sub-accounts that want their numbers, minutes and texts on their own Telnyx account, with the phone and the texting tools inside HighLevel. This guide covers your options, how the integration works, what it costs and what does not work yet.

Status, September 2026: private HighLevel app in early access. Browser calling runs in our pilot account today. Native SMS provider and workflow texting are not switched on yet. What works today

Three Phone Clover phone screens inside HighLevel: the dialer with Ana Lee's number ready to call, a call in progress at 02:14, and an incoming call, each with the Office main line picker at the top.

The short answer

HighLevel's built-in phone, LC Phone, runs on Twilio, and HighLevel has no setting that points a sub-account at your own Telnyx account. To use Telnyx with HighLevel you either wire it up yourself, with webhooks or an automation tool, or you install an app that connects the two.

Phone Clover is that app: a private HighLevel app in early access that puts a browser phone and texting tools inside HighLevel and runs them on your own Telnyx account, billed by Telnyx directly.

Compare the paths

Your options for using Telnyx with HighLevel

There are four realistic ways to run a HighLevel account's phone and texting. Only one of them keeps you on HighLevel's own carrier. The other three put your numbers on your Telnyx account and differ in how much you build and maintain yourself.

Who this is for, and who it is not for

Phone Clover is early and focused. It is a good fit for some HighLevel teams and the wrong tool for others. Better to know now.

A good fit if

  • you already have a Telnyx account, or want your numbers and phone bill in your own name;
  • your reps work the phone from a desktop browser, inside HighLevel, most of the day;
  • you want business texting on the landline or VoIP number your customers already know, without porting it;
  • you want to see why a text failed and which of your numbers carriers are flagging;
  • you call through tagged contact lists and want each call to leave an outcome, a tag and a task behind.

Not a fit yet if

  • your team needs to call from the HighLevel mobile app;
  • you need 911 from your phone system;
  • you need workflow or bulk texting on Telnyx today;
  • you need warm transfer, voicemail drop or a predictive dialer;
  • you want the simplest built-in setup with nothing to connect, or your call volume is light enough that a software fee outweighs any per-minute savings.

Under the hood

How the HighLevel Telnyx integration works

Phone Clover sits between two accounts you already control. HighLevel keeps your contacts, conversations and pipelines. Telnyx carries your calls and texts and bills you for them. Phone Clover connects the two and adds the phone your reps use.

1The HighLevel install

An admin opens the install link we send and approves Phone Clover's permissions on HighLevel's own authorization screen. This is standard OAuth: HighLevel issues a token, Phone Clover stores it encrypted, and no password passes through us. Install at the agency level and each sub-account can be connected without a separate install. After that, reps are signed in automatically whenever they open the phone.

2Your Telnyx API key

In the Settings gear, an admin pastes a Telnyx API key and public key into the Telnyx account card. Phone Clover checks the key with Telnyx, then creates a messaging profile and an outbound voice profile inside your Telnyx account. The key is stored encrypted and never shown again, not even to admins.

3Your numbers

Numbers already in your Telnyx account show up on the Numbers tab, ready to add, and you can buy new ones there, including numbers outside the US. Adding a number moves its texting and incoming calls to Phone Clover inside your Telnyx account, so only add numbers you want Phone Clover to handle. For a landline or VoIP number that lives elsewhere, Hosted SMS adds texting without moving the calls.

4Events coming back

When a call rings or a text is delivered, fails or gets a reply, Telnyx sends an event to Phone Clover. The public key lets Phone Clover check that each event really came from your Telnyx account. That is how incoming calls ring in the browser, how failed texts get a plain-English reason, and how calls land on the contact's timeline in HighLevel.

Why the phone is a widget and not HighLevel's own dialer: HighLevel's developer documentation says third-party call providers can log calls but cannot place or receive them in HighLevel's native call screen. Every phone app for HighLevel works around this with its own calling interface. Phone Clover's is a floating phone on every page plus a full Phone page.

Limits you should know

These are true today. We list them before setup because they decide whether Phone Clover fits your team, and we would rather you hear them from us than find them after a week of use.

No 911

Phone Clover does not provide 911 or E911 on any number. Keep another phone line available for emergencies.

Calling is desktop only

Calls run in a desktop browser inside HighLevel, not in the HighLevel mobile app. Incoming calls can forward to a mobile number when nobody answers.

Native HighLevel texting is not live

Phone Clover as HighLevel's SMS provider, including workflows, bulk texts and mobile app texting, is built but not switched on. Hosted SMS and the number tools work today.

Private app, set up with you

Phone Clover is not on the HighLevel Marketplace and has no self-serve sign-up. You request access, we send the install link and set it up with you.

Calling rolls out per account

Browser calling runs in our pilot account today and is switched on for each new early-access account as we set it up.

Hosted SMS: US landlines and VoIP

Hosted SMS works for US landline and VoIP numbers. Mobile numbers cannot be text-enabled this way.

Calling lists are manual pace

Reps dial one contact at a time. There is no predictive dialing, and a list built from a tag takes the first 100 contacts.

No warm transfer or voicemail drop

Neither is built. Routing offers everyone at once or round robin, with one business-hours window per number.

What it costs

You get two bills: Telnyx for usage, in your own account, and Phone Clover for the software. Per minute, Telnyx voice costs less than half of LC Phone. Whether your total bill goes down depends on how much you call.

Minutes are only part of the bill. Phone Clover adds a monthly plan per sub-account, so at light call volume LC Phone can cost less overall. Teams that call a lot save the most.

Questions about Telnyx and HighLevel

Does GoHighLevel support Telnyx natively?

No. HighLevel's built-in phone, LC Phone, runs on Twilio, and there is no setting to bring your own carrier or SIP trunk. Using Telnyx means an app like Phone Clover, an automation tool, or your own integration.

Do I need my own Telnyx account?

Yes. Phone Clover runs on your Telnyx account, so the numbers stay yours and Telnyx bills you directly. You pay us only for the software.

Can I keep my current business number?

For texting, yes: Hosted SMS adds business texting to a US landline or VoIP number you already own, without porting it, and its calls stay where they are. Mobile numbers cannot be hosted this way.

Do my LC Phone numbers stop working?

No. Installing Phone Clover does not affect calls on your existing LC Phone numbers, and you do not have to port them.

Can workflows and bulk texts send through Telnyx today?

Not yet. Phone Clover as HighLevel's native SMS provider is coming next. Hosted SMS, failed-text reasons, the spam firewall and 10DLC registration work today.

Is it cheaper than LC Phone?

Per minute, yes: Telnyx calls cost less than half of LC Phone's rate. Your total also includes the Phone Clover plan, so teams that call a lot save the most and light users often pay a little more overall.

Is Phone Clover on the HighLevel Marketplace?

Not yet. It is a private HighLevel app in early access. Request access and we send you the install link and set it up with you.
